British Railway Class 387 Guide

Understand the current British Railway Class 387 headline, dual-mode operation, Fairholt context, service checks, and safe first-run plan.

The Class 387 Electrostar is part of British Railway’s current official update. The Roblox description calls it dual-mode and connects the release with the new Fairholt Branchline, described as the game’s first electrified branchline. That verifies the train and update theme, but not every subclass, livery, price, service, or traction-control detail.

Check the live selector before buying

Open the train shop or selector and record the exact name, subclass, livery, formation, price or ownership condition, service types, and route restrictions shown by the current game. A third-party version 1.4.3 report describes several Class 387 subclasses and liveries, but it is not a Fourth Rail source and should be treated as Community reported until the live menu confirms each option.

Compare the Class 387 with trains you already own. The useful question is what new service, route, traction behavior, or formation it adds. A new update badge does not guarantee that the train suits every account or first-time Driver.

Understand “dual-mode” in the game

Dual-mode suggests the train can operate with more than one power source or infrastructure condition, but the official public description does not explain the Roblox control. Before moving, locate any traction selector, operating panel, HUD indicator, or current keybind. Read the route information for the mode expected at spawn and along the line.

Test mode changes while stationary where the game permits. Watch for a clear confirmation before applying power. Do not repeatedly switch at speed or assume the change is automatic. The real Class 387’s technical details are not proof of how Fourth Rail implements the train.

If the route includes the electrified Fairholt Branchline, identify where the game’s infrastructure and prompts change. Use Fairholt Branchline for the network context and Controls to diagnose a missing mode action.

Plan a first Class 387 service

Choose a route explicitly offered to the current Class 387 formation. Use a line you already know so you can focus on the train. Before departure, locate power, brake, direction, doors, signal information, stopping aid, and traction indication. Start at low power and measure how the unit responds.

Brake earlier than your final estimate on the first two stops. An unfamiliar unit can make a familiar platform feel shorter. Learn the normal service brake and reserve stronger braking for correction rather than making every stop abrupt.

At the platform, confirm the door side and the current Guard workflow. Do not infer it from a visually similar unit. A train update can ship with a distinct panel or responsibility split.

Use it on Fairholt carefully

The official description establishes the Class 387 and Fairholt as related update features, but it does not publish a complete station sequence or universal service pattern. A current third-party report says the branch connects with the Mill Bridge Mainline and uses newly opened platforms at Fortis Green, with Beckford, Langstead, Mereford, and Fairholt named as new stations. Treat that station detail as Community reported and verify it in the current map and timetable.

Watch junction signals and speed changes approaching the branch. Do not assume electrification means higher line speed. The route, signal, and stop marker still control the trip.

Compare variants without guessing

If the selector offers several subclasses or liveries, compare only fields the game shows. Note whether the formation, service type, traction behavior, interior, or door panel changes. Cosmetic liveries should not be described as performance upgrades unless the live game demonstrates a mechanical difference.

Keep unknown price and performance fields blank in your own notes. One verified run is more useful than filling a table from real-world specifications or an old community page.

Troubleshoot the Class 387

If the train will not take power, return the controller to neutral and check direction, brake, doors, safety prompts, starting signal, and traction mode. If a mode control is missing, confirm that you are in the Driver role, seated in the active cab, and using the current HUD or operating panel. Rejoin only after checking normal interlocks.

If the route does not appear, inspect service and Route Pack compatibility. Owning the train does not automatically unlock every line. If doors do not respond, check whether a Guard controls the next step on that formation.

What remains to verify

The Class 387 identity, dual-mode description, and Fairholt update relationship are Official. Subclasses, liveries, exact formations, price, service labels, traction-switching sequence, acceleration, braking, top speed, door workflow, and route list need current in-game verification.
