British Railway routes are generated from the combination of network access, train, formation, service type, and the current game version. A line on the map is not automatically a service your selected consist can operate. Use this hub to separate four questions: what lines are documented, what a Route Pack unlocks, how to read the network, and how the new Fairholt Branchline changes the Mill Bridge area.

Current-data rule: Fairholt and its electrified-branch identity are official. Most route names, pack dependencies, prices, stopping patterns, and formation rules come from older community documentation and must be confirmed in the live selector and shop.

How route generation works in practice

Start with a train and formation. The route menu filters what that consist can run. Community documentation describes Regional, Semi-fast, Intercity, Shuttle, and empty-coaching-stock patterns, with different classes and consists receiving different services. Treat the exact compatibility table as update-sensitive.

Next, check network ownership. A Route Pack can add a geographical section, but some extensions depend on a parent line. A route can also require the selected service or formation to share the same section. Owning a branch does not force every train to serve it, and owning a train does not grant every line.

Finally, inspect the generated calling pattern. Two services over the same main line can stop differently or turn at different points. Read the timetable before departure and use it as the service truth for that run. The physical map explains where you are; the current timetable tells you where this train must stop.

Documented network families

This orientation is deliberately broad. The Routes List supplies a scannable documented index while avoiding a false claim that an older community list is complete today.

Choose a Route Pack by added play

Open the live shop and write down the pack name, current price, prerequisite, and geographic section. Then check what trains and services you can use there. A cheap extension can be poor value when it depends on a main line you do not own. An expensive trunk can be strong value when several existing trains gain new services.

Compare overlap. A train or service may reach part of a line through a special rule without granting the whole pack. Community documentation has described exceptions for some Intercity access and starter progression, but these must be verified in the current version.

The best next pack is the one that creates routes you can actually drive or ride now. Read Route Packs with the Trains hub before confirming a purchase.

Read the map as connections, not decoration

Find your origin and destination, then identify the main line, branch junction, key intermediate station, and terminus. Note where the train changes direction or leaves a trunk. During the trip, match station names and junctions to the diagram instead of trying to memorize the entire network at once.

An old map can still teach the shape of a trunk but can be wrong about a new branch, station, or platform. The current official description makes Fairholt a clear example: any map without that branch is not a complete current-state map. Use the in-game map, timetable, and Map guide together.

Plan a route with the train

Before spawning, verify train class, formation, traction, service type, pack access, origin, destination, and calls. On an electrified or dual-mode route, locate the traction control and note where the game expects a mode. For a long formation, consider platform fit and braking distance.

At junctions, obey the signal and route indication rather than steering from memory. A correctly generated route still requires safe driving. If the path differs from an old guide, follow the current timetable and signals.

Common route problems

If a route is missing, check the selected formation, service type, required pack, and parent-pack dependency. If the train spawns but cannot take power, investigate cab and traction state rather than assuming the line is locked. If a station is not called, confirm the generated timetable; not every service stops everywhere.

If the map and timetable disagree after an update, the live route is authoritative. Record the discrepancy and use the in-game changelog or Fourth Rail announcement before making a permanent claim.

Sources and confidence

The current Fairholt Branchline and electrified-branch description are Official. Route families, Route Pack structure, service types, and consist restrictions are Community reported and version-sensitive.
